The Kansas State Fair brings together all things Kansas — a destination where family and friends have gathered to make lasting memories since 1913. Despite the uncertainties of our present situation, Fair officials remain confident that residents can “Celebrate Kansas” at the end of summer.
“Planning and preparations continue for the 2020 Kansas State Fair,” said the Fair’s General Manager Robin Jennison. “The production of an event the size and scope of the Fair – which draws an average 340,000 people annually along with 600 commercial exhibitors and thousands of competitors - requires the year-round efforts of our hardworking team.”
Jennison added the Fair is closely monitoring mitigation efforts regarding COVID-19 and assessing new information on a daily basis. Safety and health of employees, volunteers and patrons is the top priority. Meanwhile, the Fair is having weekly conversations with other state fairs through its global organization, the International Association of Fairs and Festivals. Staff is also discussing and considering options that will enable the Fair to provide a safe and secure experience.
Jennison said the state has seen many changes since March. As of now, there is no specific date by which a decision to hold the state fair must be made. That picture will become clearer in the weeks ahead as the state progresses into the different phases.
“We are choosing to focus on what we can do now, which is to bring Kansans the best Kansas State Fair possible,” Jennison said. “Those efforts must continue if we are to present the quality event that Kansans expect and deserve – a time-honored tradition that has spanned 107 uninterrupted years.”
The Kansas State Fair is Sept. 11-20.

March 16, 2020We know the news and uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 has many wondering about future events scheduled for the spring and summer at the Kansas State Fairgrounds.
We continue to closely monitor the outbreak and assess any new information and updates on a daily basis. We also continue to follow the recommendations of the state of Kansas and the city of Hutchinson regarding social gatherings, and we will comply with any policies and actions they deem necessary.
Our top priority is the health, safety and well-being of the public. We are all in this together, and we urge anyone attending an event at the Kansas State Fairgrounds to be virus aware and practice the CDC guidelines to the fullest extent.

Most non-fair events on the Fairgrounds are organized and promoted by third parties. We are working with our event organizers to reschedule events when possible.
