2019 Media Guide

Welcome to the 2019 Kansas State Fair! We're excited to help our media partners develop helpful and fascinating stories. This guide will help you secure gate tickets, as well as learn important information about this year's event.

Media Credentials

We gladly provide free gate admission and special parking to members of the working press who are actively working on fair-related stories. Click here to request tickets by Friday, August 30.

Media Preview Event

Join us for our Media Preview Event! This includes a Fairgrounds food and new activity tour, which will take place at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6. We also will have a special guest appearance! More details coming soon. To RSVP, email amy.bickel@ks.gov.

Publicity Office


The publicity office is located in the green “Tee Box” building. The Tee Box is located at the northeast corner of 20th and Plum Streets in Parking Lot C, across from entrance 9. Physical address of the building is 1920 North Plum. Phone: 620-669-3840.

Daily Themes

Each day of the fair will be structured around an important piece of the state’s industry, people, innovations and entertainment. This approach provides fairgoers the chance to experience the Kansas State Fair in a targeted way – and may open the door to discoveries they’ve previously overlooked. The 10-day celebration will launch Sept. 6 with Reunion Day – a meet up with your friends and family for a night out at the Kansas State Fair. Each day of the Kansas State Fair will be focused on a different piece of the state – with special attractions and events to highlight the uniqueness of Kansas.

Entertainment Information and Interviews

The Kansas Stat Fair Marketing Department is available to assist with information on grandstand and free stage entertainers scheduled to perform at the fair. Media contacts for entertainers are available upon request. It is highly recommended to provide one week’s advance notice for media contact and/or interview requests. While not all requests will be able to be granted due to label and/or scheduling limitations, the publicity office will make every effort to assist with these requests. Please call Amy Bickel, Director of Marketing, to schedule an interview - 620-860-9433.

Competition Results/Photos

Results of the competitive exhibits and competitions will be available exclusively online, and they will be posted as they become available--a link will be placed on this page. Digital photography of livestock winners will be available for download via a link on this page, as it becomes available.

Media Parking

There is abundant of free parking at the fair. Several parking rows will be reserved at the southwest side of Parking Lot C (near gate E-9) for media only. Media will be provided with a permit that must be displayed on the dashboard at all times while in the media parking lot. Violators will be towed at the owners’ expense. On-grounds parking is granted by the Kansas State Fair on a case-by-case basis for limited use. Please submit requests for on-grounds parking via the online credentials request form by Friday, Aug. 30.
