STEAM MATH 2.G.1

Objective:
Students to gain hands on practice of identifying and drawing various shapes. State Standards for Math 2.G.1: Recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a given number of equal faces. Identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons and cubes.

Materials: Paper and pencil.

Student Challenge: Locate and identify different shapes.

Lesson:
During your Kansas State Fair field trip have the students watch for different shapes. As students locate a shape, have them draw the shape on their paper, label the shape by its name and list the locations where they found that particular shape. The midway (before the rides start for the afternoon) would be a fun area to look for different geometric shapes.

Standard: 1. Recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a given number of equal faces. Identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes. (Sizes are compared directly or visually, not compared my measuring)
