Rooks County

Rooks County hosts one of the largest county fairs in Kansas. "The Fair of Champions" has been a part of Rooks County for nearly 140 years.

Buffalo Bill Culture Center

The center is the midpoint of the Western Vistas Historic Byway and can be rented out for many different events. They also have a gift shop with many Kansas made items.

Field Station: Dinosaurs

Kansas Post Rock Limestone Coalition

Kansas Post Rock Limestone Coalition is a group of individuals and communities who are linked by the Greenhorn Limestone formation in Central and Western Kansas. Here to promote education, preservation, tourism, and other endeavors tied to our Post Rock Limestone.

Midland Railroad Hotel

The Midland is a historic hotel established in 1899. A large portion of the woodwork in the hotel is original to include the beautiful staircase. The parlor in the hotel is original, to include the beautiful staircase. The hotel was a filming site for the movie “Paper Moon.” Midland Railroad Hotel is found along the Post Rock Scenic Byway. Over the Smoky Hills of weathered bedrock, the Post Rock Scenic Byway winds through fields, pastures, and prairie.

Land & Sky Byways

Travelers along the Land and Sky Scenic Byway have the opportunity to experience the Wallace Branch of the Great Western Cattle Trail, scale the highest point in Kansas at Mount Sunflower and explore the deep canyons and rugged landscape of the Arikaree Breaks. The byway is also the only one in the state that focuses on agriculture and features thousands of acres of rotating crops, livestock and wildlife along the route.

Hildebrand Farms Dairy

Getting to use their product knowing you're supporting third and fourth generation dairy farmers and the Kansas community. A visit to Hildebrand Farms Dairy will show the complete life cycle of a delicious glass bottle of milk. Drop by and you may be able to sneak a peek as the milk is being bottled at our on-site processing facility. Visitors are also allowed to steal a peek at the baby calves. Guided tours are also available (by appointment only) and provide a detailed look at the life of a Hildebrand cow and the process of making each yummy bottle. Call us to schedule a tour or stop by our farm store and grab an ice cream cone.
