The Kansas State Fair is highly interested in the Scout movement in the State of Kansas and urges all boys of Scout age (6 to 18) to become members and thereby be eligible to compete for premiums offered in this department.

Entry forms due-August 31

NEW FOR 2010:

Open to receive entry items: Monday, Sept. 6, 9:00am-6:00pm, Tuesday, Sept. 7, 9:00am-9:00pm.

All entry items MUST be checked in by 9:00pm on Tuesday September 7.

Judging: Wednesday, September 8, 10:00am.

Entries released: Sunday, Sept. 19, 6:00pm - 9:00pm.

Please use the Scout entry form in the back of the Exhibitor Handbook to enter, or online at www.kansasstatefair.com. Entry forms due no later then Aug 31.

1. Competitive exhibition is open to all registered Boy Scouts in good standing. Only 1 entry is allowed in each

class and the Scout can enter exhibits in only one classification (Tigers, Cubs, etc.) with the exception of Cubs

who can exhibit in 02 and 03 and Webelos who can exhibit in 03 and 04. Classification for entries will be made on

Scout registration from Sept., 2009, to August, 2010.

2. Articles must have been made within the past year by the Scout and never previously exhibited at the Kansas

State Fair except for collections which may be exhibited more than once if new additions are made, labeled

and dated.

3. Cookies and candy should include 6 pieces. All baked goods, candies & jellies & jams must have a typed recipe

on 8½"x 11" sheet with name, address & phone number on bottom left corner. Recipes become property

of the State Fair.

4. The Sweepstakes classes are not to be written on the entry form; judging points determine the Sweepstakes

winner for each classification. Sweepstakes awards will be determined by the following point system: 1st =3 points; 2nd =2 points; 3rd =1 point, and awarded to the Scout in each classification earning the most points.

5. In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America, special categories have been added on page 57 for the 2010 Fair only.

For this special celebration, a special class has been created for this year only:

POSTER CONTEST

(no larger than 8 1/2" x 15")

Entries must portray

one of Scouting’s core values:

LEADERSHIP, CHARACTER, COMMUNITY SERVICE, ACHIEVEMENT

Entries may be in any medium and should be entered with the following class numbers:

Tigers - 601

Cubs - 602

Webelos - 603

Scouts - 604

Premiums for each class will be the same as in each section.

A new class has been added for this year to exhibit and display pictures of Eagle projects completed in the 2009-2010 Scout year. One 4 x 6 picture per project may be submitted.

Pictures must be entered in Eagle Scouts - class 605

Pictures WILL be returned - No premiums offered.
